First off I want to thank everyone who participated in the annual raffle that I run to support Kiva.org.
This year our community raised $1,320 and, as promised, I matched that amount dollar for dollar, which meant we were able to support 105 small businesses around the world. (I have already made the loans!)
For those of you unfamiliar with how Kiva works, they provide loans to small business owners all over the world who would not be able to get funding from local banks. The recipients pay back the loans over time and we then get to lend the money out to another small business owner, and so the
process is repeated again and again.
This week we supported 105 small businesses AND over the next months and years that number will grow as the money is repaid and loaned out to other small
businesses.
In addition to these raffles, the classes that I have offered for Kiva support, and a percent of the monthly support to the Tapping Q & A Podcast going to Kiva, we as a community have
supported over 1000 businesses!
