Good morning,
I was just thinking about you.
To be a little immodest, I was actually thinking about you in the shower.
(There is some amazing research on why we do some of our best thinking in the shower, but that is a topic for another time.)
To be more accurate, I was thinking about why I do the work that I do,
which means I was thinking about you, because you are on the receiving end of my efforts. None of my work is created in a vacuum.
As I was thinking about all this, I decided to write you a note to
explain where I am coming from and why I do what I do.
Tapping Q & A (the articles, podcast, videos, classes, training, fundraisers, and everything else) exists for three main reasons.
First, all of my resources are created for sharing. What I hope are top quality resources can be shared with anyone in the world with an internet connection. I know I
am not the only, or the best, creator of tapping training. Instead, my goal is to share resources that are helpful.
My hope is that you have found something I have shared helpful at least once.
(Compliment me on my shoes or tell me I have created something useful, and I will be on cloud nine for the rest of the day.)
In all of my classes I repeat that "this is descriptive, not prescriptive,"
which means I am describing my process and why I think the way I do. Inside of that, rather than presuming to tell you what to do, I hope you will find something that is useful to you,
If you are someone
who, even if only occasionally, dips into some of my resources and never pays for a product, a course, or a session, I am so glad you are willing to give my thoughts some time and attention. Our lives are already full and there are only so many minutes in the day. The fact that you would read or listen to my words is really amazing.
Of the people who are subscribed to my mailing list, about 97% have never paid for any of my offerings, but they have spent their precious time and attention.
That is wonderful to me!
Thank you for spending some of your attention with me.
Second, it exists so I can learn. I am a better teacher, a better practitioner, a better coach, a better tapper and, most importantly, I am a better person because there are people like
you on the other side of my free resources, products, and classes.
You ask some brilliant questions. You make me think about healing in new ways and help me to challenge my assumptions about myself,
healing, and the world.
If you have ever asked a question, made a comment, challenged what I have said or written, or shared an experience with me, I am grateful.
Third, this is what I do for a living. The reason this is a business and not a hobby is so that I can dedicate my time fully to Tapping Q and A. That is why you sometimes receive (a lot of) sales
emails from me. I want you to know about the programs and classes I am selling so I can keep doing the work that I am doing.
If you have ever purchased something from me, I hope you have felt like you
have gained way more than your money's worth.
If you have never purchased anything from me, I hope some day in the future there is an offer that meets your needs and is something you can afford. If that
day never comes because for one reason or another that my offer isn't the right fit for you, that is great too.
My why jug.
(I know many of you have heard
this before, but it is worth re-sharing.)
I have a "why jug". It is a glass jug that holds 64 oz of liquid (that is nearly 2 liters for my British friends). Every morning I fill it up with water. My goal
is to drink all the water before the day ends.
Every time I fill up my glass, I say one of my whys out loud. That means why am I sitting at my desk today, doing the work that I am doing.
Some of those whys are about the financial goals I have for my business. Some of those whys are about my personal growth. The why I say the most is about the work I do.
At least twice a day I say out loud: "I am sitting at my desk today because I want to create resources and experiences to help people to become more comfortable in their own skins and to live authentic lives they love. When they do this,
their lives are better, which means the world is better, and that means my world is better too."
I hope that I am living up to that goal.
Know that when you receive emails from me, it is really me who is sending them. Yes, I have a great support team who help me stay on track, provide editing assistance and keep me from being distracted by shiny objects.
Notwithstanding that help, I am the person who is on the other side of those words.
Even though this email comes from support@tappingqanda.com, I am the one reading all your replies. I have a support email address, just so your words don't get lost in my overstuffed personal inbox (and email promotions for more shoes).
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
In his book Six-Minute X-Ray Chase Hughes talks about the fact that we don't have an attention deficit problem, but an
interest deficit problem. There are so many things vying for our attention that we quickly judge whether something is interesting to us, and then scroll on by if it is not.
Thank you for sharing
some of your time and attention with my small corner of the internet.
If there is anything I can do for you, know I am just an email away.
Blessings,
Gene
