Good morning,
If I were to ask you to describe the most clichéd idea of a therapy session, you would probably imagine a client reclining on a leather couch with their therapist seated nearby, diligently taking notes and prompting the client with the question: "So...how does that make you feel?"
As clichéd as that sounds, I think it holds the key to one of the most important gateways to creating deep, lasting transformation and healing.
That key?
The question:
"How does that make you feel?"
Most tapping training directs us to the necessity of identifying the root cause of the issue as a vital ingredient of finding our way to healing and
transformation.
I don’t dispute that finding root causes is important to transformation, but I do not believe that the root cause is the best place to start your tapping.
For me, the easiest and most effective starting point for creating healing and transformation when tapping is with the emotion about the issue, not the issue itself.
OR as our stereotypical therapist would ask, “How does that make you feel?”
Starting with the emotion about an issue reduces our overall emotional response to what is going on. In many cases, the emotions about the issue are a significant part of the issue itself, so by clearing those emotions, we are actually dealing with the main issue.
As we continue our Healing Fundamentals series, we are looking at the emotion about the issue, how it impacts the overall healing process, and the best place to start the next time you are tapping.
As always, this week's teaching is available in both audio and video formats.
