Good morning,
When I am working with a client over some period of time, our sessions usually begin with us catching up on what has happened since the last time we talked, and what they are struggling with.
When this happens, there is a question that I both want and do not want to ask.
The question?
"Have you tapped on that?"
As a practitioner, this is a useful question because it helps me to understand whether my clients feel capable of working on their own, and makes it easier for me to serve them.
From the client's side, the question might be heard as an accusation because it sounds like I am nagging them. They already feel bad because they are struggling, they feel worse because they didn't tap in the moment, and then they feel even worse because it feels like I am calling them out on their failure to tap on their own!
Over the years I have learned how to ask this question in such a way that my clients understand I am not accusing them of anything, but instead trying to understand what is going on so I can be more
helpful.
In response to that question, one of my clients once said, "No, and I wish there was some way that I could tap so that I would remember to tap when I needed to tap!"
My response surprised them, "Well, actually we can!"
There are a number of recent studies that show exactly how we can use tapping to improve our memory function. Recently, my friend Dr. Peta Stapleton published a new book on this very topic called Memory Improvement Through EFT Tapping: A Way to Boost Recall and Clarity.
Peta was kind enough to stop by the podcast to talk about her book and the findings of the latest research. In our conversation she shares how tapping can help with short term memory, how to re-remember something we have forgotten, and how we can use tapping to help reduce short and long term memory
loss that often accompanies aging.
This is a must-listen to conversation AND you should do it right now before you forget! (I know, that is a bad joke.)
