Good afternoon,
One of the aspects of tapping that I love is how, in the right hands, it can be used for so many different things.
In the last week alone, between my personal tapping and working with clients I have used tapping on:
- calming down in the moment when tech support isn't being helpful
- stopping self-sabotaging behaviors
- eliminating cravings
- reducing physical
pain
- creating self-acceptance
- clearing painful memories
AND that is just to name a few examples.
In my experience, there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to tapping. It is not enough to know that we need to tap on an issue, we also need to have the most effective approach for that issue.
Even though tapping is effective for both, there is a difference in how we approach physical pain and a painful memory.
The version of
tapping that I think everyone should know is what we would call Emotional First Aid.
The key characteristics of Emotional First Aid tapping are:
- Done in the moment to create a feeling of
peace, calm, and safety
- Can be led by anyone (you do not need to be a practitioner)
- Can be done without words
- Can be done without having to explain what tapping is and how it works
I believe this is the version of tapping that everyone on the planet should know!
In many ways, this is not about how to be a better tapper, but how to be a better helper. We all experience situations where people are in distress and need support. When we understand the uniqueness of the situations in which
Emotional First Aid is effective, we are better able to help them.
Even if you know how to tap and use tapping regularly, and even if you are a skilled practitioner, it doesn't mean you know the
best way to give Emotional First Aid.
There are many subtleties to Emotional First Aid tapping that are different from tapping on your own or in the context of a session. In some ways, how we tap for
ourselves or with clients can actually get in the way of this type of tapping.
My goal is for everyone I know to become skilled at Emotional First Aid tapping. To that end, I am bringing together two
highly experienced trainers that I believe are among the best in the world at teaching how to share and use this tool.
They are Jondi Whitis, who literally wrote the book on Emotional First Aid, and
Placide Nkubito, who works full time for the Peaceful Heart Network serving the countries in East and Central Africa.
Every time I have talked to Jondi and Placide about the topic I have learned
something new, which has made me a better helper and that is why I want to share them with you in a training event next month.
The training is taking place on September
9th in a hybrid format, which means you can experience the event in three different ways:
- Attend in person: We will be hosting the event in New York City. There is limited seating, but you are very welcome to join us in person.
- Attend online: The event will be streamed live via Zoom. Those joining via Zoom will be encouraged to participate fully. You will be able to ask the presenters questions and whenever we are doing demonstrations, you will be broken
into small groups with other online participants.
- Watch the replay: Everyone who signs up (in person or online) will receive both audio and video recordings of the event.
As an added bonus
Because the aim of this training is to teach these tools to as many people as possible, when you
sign up you will be gifted a complimentary online registration that you can give to a friend, colleague, or family member. (Note: Because of limited seating, even if you sign up to attend in person, your bonus registration will be for online participation.)
The event itself only costs $97 and is a fundraiser for the Peaceful Heart Network.
If you made a donation of $100 or more during the 24 Hours of
Tapping, then this event is included in your thank you gifts. You will receive the registration details in the next 48 hours.
(Note: If you received access to this event because of your donation
during the 24 Hours of Tapping AND you would like to donate again, you are more than welcome to do exactly that!)
