Good morning,
In most cases, the reason we turn to tapping is because we are in some sort of physical, emotional, or existential distress.
Whatever the kind of pain we are experiencing, we want it to stop.
Now, there is one word in the previous sentence that I find interesting, and that word is stop.
We want the pain
to go away, but tapping does not typically result in complete relief. Our pain might reduce, but it doesn't stop.
At the same time, this is totally fine. As much as we would like the pain to
disappear, just shifting our state and feeling better is often all that we need.
This is straightforward to grasp on a conscious level but trickier where our subconscious mind is concerned because it
works in an all-or-nothing fashion.
It is easier to be satisfied with our transformation (and to stop our subconscious mind from throwing a little temper tantrum about our imperfect progress) when we
understand how healing and transformation unfolds.
As we continue the Healing Fundamentals series, this week we are looking at the stages of awareness in the process of transformation. Recognizing
the organized way in which healing unfolds makes it easier for us to assess where we are, how far we have come, and most importantly, the next steps in the healing process.
This week's teaching on the
stages of awareness is available in both audio and video formats.

When I taught
anger management in a county jail this was one of the first concepts I taught my students and I believe that it was key in getting them to buy into the healing process.
Understanding this idea will not only make healing easier, it will also motivate you to persist in your healing work.
I would love to hear your thoughts on how this works for you,
Gene
