Good morning,
There is a great podcast on the MaxFun Network called Feeling Seen.
In each episode, the host Jordan Crucchiola talks to a guest about a piece of pop culture that made them feel seen when they first read or watched it. Then, they explore the fictional situation or character that was so relatable to the interviewee that they felt like they were no longer alone in the world.
I'm sure you have had the same
experience. There is some piece of art that makes you feel seen or helps you to understand the world a little better.
For me, this is one of the main reasons to love science-fiction and fantasy. These genres allow authors to explore complicated themes of the human experience without the cultural baggage of our time and place.
The recent Dune movies are a perfect example of this. They are visually breathtaking and create space to explore the human condition.
After seeing the two movies and receiving recommendations from friends, I have been listening to the audiobook version of the books by Frank Herbert
on which the movies are based.
I particularly like the treatment of the main character, Paul, and his relationship to fear. We often end up in Paul's head as he lives through moments of crisis. Not only is Paul trying to keep himself safe, but we have a chance to hear his inner dialogue as he processes his own fear, how that fear is impacting his ability to think and
act, and how he succeeds in calming that fear.
I'm not sure if Paul would have been a good tapping practitioner, but his mother, Lady Jessica, would have been amazing; she is the one who taught Paul to understand and manage his fear.
This
week's podcast is inspired by Paul's response to fear. On several occasions when encountering fear, Paul recites a litany about what fear is and what it is not.
Even though the book was written in 1965, the litany on fear makes a perfect tapping script for today. To that end, I have taken the litany and expanded it into a much
longer tapping script on how to understand the message of fear, and how to release it so I can be more present in the moment.
It is a little different than most podcast episodes, but it is one of my favorites.

I would love to hear your response to this,

PS: In the video version of the podcast, I created a little cartoon of the sandworms from the story. It is so lifelike you will think it
is directly from the movie!
