Good morning,
One of the most common forms of resistance people encounter when doing any sort of deep transformational work (tapping included) is the fear of what will be uncovered.
My clients usually fear that either that there will be an overwhelming number of emotions that will be impossible to handle, or that a previously suppressed traumatic memory will surface.
I'm not saying this doesn't happen but in working with
clients one-on-one for close to two decades, we were able to handle every instance of unexpected memories and seemingly overwhelming emotions in a safe and effective way.
Even with that being true, I totally understand why someone embarking on a healing journey might resist doing the work because of these concerns.
There is another version of this resistance that is less emotional and less dramatic.
That is the fear that you will learn or be reminded of something that you don't want to hear.
It could be:
- an uncomfortable truth about your life
- an action that you need to take but are avoiding because you know it will be hard
- a toxic relationship that you need to exit
- a harmful habit that you need to give up
- a realization that you failed in the past because you were unwilling to show up for yourself
Nobody wants to deal with these types of truths BUT in order to
create lasting change and transformation in our lives, we must face up to these truths and heal our relationship to them.
In the podcast this week I share a simple tapping phase I love to use when I resist doing the transformation work that I know I want to do.
I know you will find it super useful!

One final thought, if you have been reading this and thinking "This isn't for me because I tap regularly" I urge you to reconsider.
There have been many times in my life where I have been showing up to tap daily, but it did not mean I was addressing the most important issues. The superficial issues I was addressing masked my avoidance of deeper work for fear of what I might uncover.
If you are in that situation, I encourage you to add the idea
I teach in this podcast to your tapping.
I'd love to hear what you discover when using this phrase,
Gene
