Good morning,
I am sure at some point in your life you have heard someone say (or try to quote with varying degrees of accuracy) the philosopher George Santayana's most famous quote:
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
As tappers we spend A LOT of time looking backwards.
Our limiting beliefs, insecurities, and bad habits are often rooted in something that has happened in the past.
Because of this there are lots of useful tapping approaches to help examine the past such as the movie technique, the photo technique, and the middle school playlist, to name just a few.
Even though focusing on your past can be super useful, sometimes it is a waste of time, and in extreme cases it can get in the way of healing.
In this week's podcast, I explore when the healing process might be hampered by too much focus on the past, how to know when it is happening, and how best
to tap so you don't get caught up in this unproductive cycle.

Navigating the fine line between knowing whether the past is useful or a distraction can be tricky but understanding the distinction will make your tapping quicker and more effective.
I would love to hear how this idea helps you in your tapping,
Gene
