Good morning,
Sometime in early 2007, I had a three-hour layover in Pittsburgh airport.
Instead of sitting at the gate, I decided to walk laps around the airport because I knew I had a long flight ahead.
As well as being filled with music, my iPod contained audiobooks and lots of teleclasses. Because I am highly dyslexic, I find audio instruction much more effective than reading.
As I was walking around listening to a teleclass on something or another, the host brought on a guest to talk about tapping.
This was the very first time I heard about tapping.
By the time the person had finished their instruction, I knew even less about tapping. That is not a typo. The instruction simply left me confused to the point of bewilderment.
But for some reason something in the conversation piqued my interest, so I ordered Gary Craig's original EFT DVDs. (I still have them!)
I started to tap.
Initially, I tried it on a little of everything and made some progress on various issues. These small wins encouraged me to try it on the biggest issue in my life at the time, which was my acute social anxiety.
At that point in my life, I could stand on stage in front of 8,000 people and it was as easy as breathing, but I couldn't answer my own phone or ask for help in a store.
My world was slowly getting smaller and smaller as I stopped socializing and
only left my house for work or if I was dragged somewhere by my loving friends.
To apply tapping to my social anxiety, I decided to do the single scariest thing I could think of at the time: Online dating.
I would set up a date in a
neighborhood around half an hour from my apartment and then tap the whole way as I walked to the meeting spot.
Over the course of about six weeks, I did this again and again…and to my astonishment, my social anxiety faded away!
Following this
incredible transformation, I became a tapping zealot and I shared the miracle (or so it seemed) of tapping with anyone and everyone who would listen, in what I now recognize was an excessively enthusiastic manner.
Luckily, I didn't manage to scare everyone off, and a few people actually listened.
At that time, Gary Craig's newsletter was mostly filled with stories being sent in by relatively inexperienced tappers like me. They weren't scientific research or even case studies. They were simply first-person accounts of "this is what I tried and this is what happened."
I read every single account and learned a lot, and decided to send in a few of my own experiences.
Not only were they published, but they were published with my email address.
The strangest thing happened...people started emailing me
and asking me questions about what I had written.
I was excited! I was flattered!
AND then my process-driven brain kicked in.
I thought it would be much easier to answer questions in a way that was accessible to anyone, so I decided to create a website to respond to some of the questions I'd received.
On August 1st, 2007, the first article went live on the first version of TappingQandA.com.
It is hard to believe that that was 17 years ago!
Words fail to describe what the last 17 years have been like and in how many ways my life has changed for the better.
Thank you for being a part of that journey. Thank you for asking questions. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Thank you for commenting on my posts. Thank you for sharing the articles, podcasts, and videos with your friends.
What started out as a little personal development work and a lot of enthusiasm has transformed my world.
As a small thank you for your continued support, I am offering a sale on one-on-one sessions with me.
