Good morning,
One of the foundations of the work I do is how I understand emotions.
In my approach, which isn't unique, emotions are information. Every emotion conveys a separate piece of information. When we understand what our negative emotions are trying to tell us, transforming them becomes possible.
For example:
- Frustration – a need or desire is not being met
- Anger – there is a perceived
attack
- Overwhelm – there is not enough time or other resources to do everything that needs to be done
- Anxiety – There is danger in my future
Much of the work we do when we are tapping is listening to the messages borne by our emotions, which then allows us to release them.
That is why
Gary Craig called his version of tapping Emotional Freedom Techniques. An amazing sense of freedom rushes in when we are able to let go of our negative emotions.
With this being said, I have found that working with grief is unlike every other emotion.
The information carried by grief is that we have lost the connection with someone or something that is important to us.
We don't become free of grief.
We don't process
grief.
We don't step out of grief.
Instead, we change our relationship to grief over time as we learn to live with it.
For example, there are loved ones of mine who have died. I will never stop grieving the loss of those relationships.
In this week's podcast, I share with you everything I have learned from working with hundreds of clients around the feeling of grief.
And I will share how I use tapping to transform my relationship to the grief that I feel and the grief that I carry.
There are two reasons for dedicating an entire episode to just one emotion. First, I have found grief to be not only a unique emotional experience, but one that requires a different tapping approach. Second, grief is an emotion that we all
experience, but our culture does not do a good job of talking about it. I wanted to provide a safe place for you to explore and think about grief.
Because of that, I believe this is a must-listen to episode.

This is an episode that I am super proud of because I think we can all do better in how we respond to grief, whether it is our own
grief or that of others.
I would love to hear your experiences with this tapping and this approach,
Gene
PS: Did you know that I do a live stream every Wednesday FREE on YouTube? This week we talked about how to personalize tapping approaches and tapping scripts so you can get the most out of them. You can watch the replay here: https://youtube.com/live/32zTcngJZak
