Good afternoon,
One word you might not expect me to use when talking about being a tapping practitioner is "humbled".
I love the feeling at the end of a client session where I know I have been encouraging, supportive, helpful, and successful. I love having the opportunity to make the world a better place through my work every single day.
Even with all of that, the most powerful feeling I feel is humbled.
I feel humbled because of what people are willing to share with me.
I hear people's deepest fears and insecurities.
I repeatedly hear the
phrase "I have never told anyone this before, but..."
It is such a privilege to have people share their struggle in that way.
When having these conversations, one of my most important jobs is to help to normalize the struggles my clients are
feeling.
When we are in that much pain, it is easy to feel isolated, alone, and like we are the only person in the world with this struggle. Helping my clients to realize they are not alone in their difficulties is often the first step toward meaningful change.
But this doesn't always work.
As a perfect example, I was working with a client a few weeks ago around a habit for which they felt a great amount of shame. I started to share with her why her subconscious was acting the way it was, and this is how everyone's subconscious works.
She replied in disgust "That's just an excuse!"
It’s a response I hear often because I work with people who want to take full responsibility for their actions. They believe that if they take responsibility, change and healing will come more easily.
They are not wrong, but there is an enormous difference between an excuse and an explanation.
An excuse would be shifting blame and not taking responsibility. An explanation is gaining a clear understanding of what happened so we can create change and
take new action.
This week on the podcast I explore the difference between the two. When you understand the difference, you’ll stop beating yourself up for past mistakes and start taking action that creates positive action and transformation.

This is a concept that is essential to understand if you want to get the most out of your tapping.
I know you are going to love this one.

PS: Yesterday, I went live on YouTube and talked about how we can measure the
success of tapping. This idea goes perfectly with this week's podcast. You can watch the replay here: https://www.youtube.com/live/Vj5yTV__DTE?si=sbz3A-g2b9jgJymY&t=110
