Good morning,
We all do it. Cling to past versions of ourselves. Even when they’re no longer serving us.
And it makes sense that we remain stuck in this way. The younger version of ourselves was doing the best that it could to keep us safe and healthy.
The problem is, we’re not in the same place anymore. Even though much of life may look the same on the surface, we aren't the same person we were ten years ago, five
years ago, or even a year ago.
Part of us wants to heal, change, and evolve.
At the same time, there is the subconscious part of us that wants to honor and protect the younger version of who we were that fought so hard (even if it was in
vain) to keep us safe and healthy.
This creates a natural loyalty to our past selves, which is admirable, but it also means that our progress is hampered and we stay stuck.
Have you ever invested a lot of time and energy into healing an
issue, but can't seem to make progress? It is possible your stuckness isn't because the issue is too big or because you don't know how to tap for it. Instead, you are not moving ahead because you don't want to dishonor your younger self by abandoning the way it once survived.
I know that sounds weird, but I bump into this exact issue all the time.
