Good morning,
Years ago, I was invited by friends to an outdoor music festival in Washington DC.
As we were sitting on the green enjoying a picnic lunch, I wasn't paying much attention to the musical act performing because I was much more interested in the food and catching up with my friends.
All of a sudden, I found myself humming along to the tune that was being played. Not because I loved the song, but because it was a super catchy
tune that lodges itself in your brain, known as an earworm.
The performer was Herman's Hermits and the song was "I'm Henry VIII, I Am".
If you are of a certain age and from a certain part of the world, I apologize. I'm sorry for putting that
song in your head, which I'm guessing will be stuck there for the rest of the day.
I was reminded of a line in that song while working on this week's podcast.
The line is: Second verse, same as the first!
This week's podcast is about how to tap for the shame we feel when we have to deal with the same issue again.
You know exactly what it is like. You are trying to create change in your life. You learn new skills, create new habits,
and make consistent use of transformational tools (like tapping). You are making great progress and it feels so good…and then something happens that completely throws you off your stride.
Sometimes it's a major disruption, at other times it is a slow drift. No matter how it happens, the outcome is the same: you find yourself back at square one.
It is as if all of your hard work has been for nothing and you have to start again.
"Second verse, same as the first!"
It feels heartbreaking, demoralizing, and it is easy to feel like a failure when this happens. Especially when you see others around you able to maintain their growth, gains, and progress.
This week in the podcast, I explore what we can do when this happens, how to respond to the swirl of emotions that come up, and how to avoid getting so discouraged that you
give up.
Everyone experiences this at some time on their transformational journey, so I highly recommend you listen to this episode.
Even if you are not dealing with this issue right now, it is much easier to learn a process like this before
you need it so that you are prepared for when it arises.
