Good morning,
You’re reading this because you love tapping and believe in its potential. At the same time, you wish it worked more consistently and more powerfully for you.
You are not alone! Because tapping is one of those tools that seems simple at first glance, but in the moment, it can be hard to use with power and nuance.
A few weeks ago I put up a survey asking my
readers and students "What are your biggest struggles when it comes to tapping?"
Over the next five days, I will share the top five struggles. I will also show you how to solve each one so they no longer slow your healing.
Today we start with Reason #1: I don't know what to say.
By far this is the most common struggle tappers face, and to be honest I wasn't surprised this was the struggle mentioned the most as I have been hearing this from my clients and students for years.
The reason you struggle to find the right words at the moment is because your brain plays tricks on you. Not because you're defective, but because human memory works against us in a very specific way. This is what I mean by that...
When I am tapping with clients I normally do it in rounds of tapping that are
between one and three minutes long and then check in to see how things are going.
When I check in they will say something like, "When you said [one of the tapping phrases we used] it was like you speaking directly into my soul. That was so powerful!"
We will then continue to work in these short tapping bursts for the rest of the session. At the end of the session I check in to see how far we have come and the client is amazed at how far we have come. Just last Friday I had a client say at the end of a session "This is the most comfortable and confident I have ever felt, as in the most in my entire life!"
You might be thinking, "Gene, this is wonderful that your clients have such a powerful transformation, but what does this have to do with me not knowing what to say when I sit down to tap?"
The reason I'm telling this story is not because of what is in the story, but instead what is not in the story.
When I talked about the powerful round of tapping where I "spoke directly into the client's soul" you will notice they only mentioned one tapping phrase, not the other 20+ tapping phrases we said in that round of tapping.
When I talked about the
client feeling the "most comfortable I have ever been in my entire life" I didn't mention the multiple rounds of tapping we did that didn't really move the needle or only created a tiny bit of clarity.
The reason you don't know what to say when you tap is because your brain only remembers the breakthroughs. It forgets the
messy middle where most of the real progress actually happens. This means you only remember the "prefect" tapping phrases.
That means the next time you sit down to tap you are expecting to find the perfect tapping phrase that creates a powerful transformation.
When that perfect phrase doesn't come right away it is easy to feel overwhelmed, unskilled, and foolish.
The problem is not that you don't know how to find powerful and transformative tapping phrases. The problem is you (subconsciously) expect them to come instantly, being the first words out of your mouth.
To succeed with tapping, you do not need the perfect words right away. What you need is a clear starting point that gets the process moving.
That is the reason why I have created the Precision Tapping training. It is a simple step-by-step process that helps you tap with clarity
and confidence, even when you feel stuck or unsure what to say. You will then naturally find your way to those tapping phrases that "speak directly to your soul".
If you know tapping works but are frustrated with the results you are getting because you don't know what to say or aren't tapping enough then you are going to love this training.
The training is happening Sunday the 28th and there are only 100 seats available.
