Years ago, I attended a workshop in which we were talking about the critical voice. The presenter made the statement that we all struggle with our internal critical voice.

Someone in the front row raised his hand. The presenter called on him and he said, "I don't have a critical voice ... (long pause) ... I have a critical committee!"

Dealing with the negative thoughts inside our heads can be challenging. When someone else picks on us, we can walk away, but there is no way to escape your own internal dialog.
