[TappingQ&A] - What To Do When You Are Worried To Tap For An Issue

Published: Wed, 10/31/12

Good Morning!

Last week I was working with a client and we were doing a regular 1
hour session. In the first 15 minutes we knocked out a fairly
large issue.

After having some water, taking a few deep breaths, and stretching
a little (all good things to do every 10 or 15 minutes when
tapping), I asked her what she would like to work on next.

She said, "I have another issue that is big and I don't know if
we have enough time to work on it..."

Remember, we had just started the session and still had 45 minutes
left. After a little investigation we found that her concern
wasn't that we didn't have enough time, but that she was worried
that the issue was going to be too emotional to tap on.

This happens a lot. We know we need to tap. We know we will feel
better if we tap. BUT if we tap we are worried that we'll end up
in a mess.

When this happens we come up with some other excuse (like we don't
have enough time) not to tap.

There is a very simple way around this. It is possible that we
will uncover powerful emotions when we tap, but if we have a coping
strategy in place then we can feel comfortable in knowing that
whatever comes we will be able to tap and deal with it.

This week I have a simple plan to take care of those moments when
we are surprised by a lot of emotions. By mastering this
straightforward tool you won't talk yourself out of tapping when
you really need to do it.

You can learn the approach here: http://tappingqanda.com/?p=8424

As always, please let me know what I can do to be helpful.

Overwhelmed By Emotions While Doing EFT: Preventing It From
Happening And Dealing With It If It Does
When I tap I find that I have so many emotions and memories coming
up all at once that I feel overwhelmed. It is like they are
queuing up to be fixed! Yes, I'm glad this stuff comes up and I
deal with it as it comes, but issues are tumbling out so fast they
are landing on top of each other. I can't spend all day in the
bathroom at work, how do I deal with all these emotions without
feeling overwhelmed?

EFT Tool That Needs A Cool Name, But Doesn't Have One (Do This Now!)
This is a technique that I developed from some of the resources
from Quantum Techniques. I use this with many of my clients at the
end of sessions, especially when we have done powerful work. This
is a great way to relax anytime, but is perfect for the end of the
day or right before bedtime.
