TappingQandA

Good Morning!

It is always interesting to hear from readers. I received an interesting note from my father last week after I sent out an email with the subject line "Help! I Am Turning Into My Parents. What Can I Do?"

This week's article comes directly from a question that I received from a reader a few weeks ago. After working through one of my tapping scripts she asked if the tapping script I had written was dangerous because it contained the word "not."

I'm sure you have heard this before. The thinking goes that the subconscious mind doesn't hear the word "not," so if you say "I do not want to be fat," the subconscious really hears "I want to be fat."

I know I have heard it many times, but is it true? I looked into it and this is what I found out: http://tappingqanda.com/?p=8735

In addition to the article I also have a great interview with Dr. Shoshana Garfield about misperceptions.

If we are working on the wrong issue EFT will not to work. That is obvious. The problem comes when we are misperceiving our issues because then we don't know we are working on the wrong issue.

Check out this interview where we talk about how we can be successful while tapping, in spite of our misperceptions.

As always, let me know what I can do for you,

Gene

PS: I know I have been talking about MyEFTYear.com a lot, but it is something that I think is really important. I have already received amazing stories from the people who are taking part. Almost daily I am hearing from someone who is saying their day has started off on the perfect foot because of 15 minutes of tapping. Take a moment to check it out.

NEW & FEATURED ARTICLES

Is It OK To Say "Not" While Doing EFT? - Here is a question I received: In a number of your EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) scripts you use the words "not" and "does not." For example in your forgiveness tapping script, "When I choose to forgive John, what I'm choosing to do is to no longer be emotionally tied up in this past instance...More than likely, John doesn't give this transgression any thought at all...It doesn't do me any good to keep re-living this wound over and over again..." I have heard that the subconscious mind ignores the word "not" and every time we say we don't want something we are really telling the subconscious we want it. Do you think this is true and how should it impact our tapping?

Dealing With Misperceptions That Can Hinder The Healing Process w/ Dr. Shoshana Garfield, PhD - One of the biggest struggles we have in doing any sort of transformational work is the fact that it is possible for us to NOT see the issue at hand clearly. We are shaped by our experience, our training, our biases, the stories we tell about ourselves, and what we hope is true. Because of this, even with the intention to do healing work, we can end up going down a path that is not fruitful.
