Good Morning!
I have never been the biggest fan of the name "Emotional Freedom Technique". Yes, it does a great job of describing what happens when we tap, but for me it makes a very powerful protocol sound a little woo woo.
For today's resources it is the perfect name because they are all about freedom from painful emotions.
First, for me, the most painful and debilitating emotion is when I feel ashamed of something I have done wrong.
And not just wrong, but really wrong!
Not only is it a super painful emotion, it also stops me dead in my tracks because of the worry that I will make further bad choices, which will lead to feeling even more ashamed of myself. This emotional state is the most powerful source of self sabotage in my life.
A few weeks ago I found myself in a bit of a spiral of feeling ashamed and I knew I needed to tap for it. So I turned on my camera and recorded the tapping session.
You can see that recording here: http://tappingqanda.com/?p=8970
Second, I am willing to bet that if you are reading this email you would be considered a big hearted person by those who know you. People who take the time to make their own lives better usually also recognise the pain and suffering of the people around them.
This is a good thing and the world is a better place because people can see beyond themselves. BUT sometimes it can produce a lot of pain when we perceive the suffering of those around us and yet feel powerless to help.
Here is a short reflection on what you can do when you feel overwhelmed by the pain in the world: http://tappingqanda.com/?p=8983
Please let me know what I can do to be helpful. As always, to contact me all you need to do is hit reply to this note and I will receive your message.

PS: A few weeks ago I shared the link to 13 free resources for parents of autistic children. I wrote a short book "EFT for ASD: A Parent's Guide" for the collection. You can download my book free of charge here: http://tappingqanda.com/eft-for-asd/

EFT For Shame -
For me, the most painful and debilitating emotion is when I feel ashamed of something I have done wrong. When I feel ashamed, it is because I know I could have done better or I chose the wrong path. Many times I know the right thing to do and still choose the wrong thing. That produces a lot of feeling ashamed! And as I hate feeling ashamed, I limit my risk. I don't take chances. Because if I don't take chances then I can't make poor choices. And if I can't make poor choices then I avoid feeling ashamed. This emotional state is the most powerful source of self sabotage in my life. A few weeks ago I woke up on a Saturday morning and decided I need to tap for feeling ashamed. This video is the result.
When We Care So Much That The World Becomes A Painful Place - Most of my readers, listeners, and clients are big hearted people. Not only do they see the obstacles in their own lives, but they recognize the struggle of others. When we recognize the struggles of others we also open ourselves up to experiencing their pain. It is a tricky balance between being open and not being so open that we feel overwhelmed. Here is how I try to navigate this balance. |
