Good morning,
I am sure this has happened to you.
You are trying to reform an unhealthy habit, like eating sweets. The first day is hard, but doable. The second day is a little easier, but work. On the third day you feel totally in control and making healthy eating choices seems like a piece of cake. (OK, not a piece of cake, but really easy.)
Then the fourth day happens...
On the fourth day you decide to allow yourself just one small piece of candy because you have been so good. This leads to a second piece, which you decide is no big deal. The next thing you know you have devoured all the candy in the house!
This is followed by disappointment...then by embarrassment...and then shame.
This is probably ringing true as most of us have experienced this scenario because of a phenomenon called the "extinction burst".
In this week's podcast you can learn:
- exactly what an extinction burst is
- why it happens
- and, most importantly, how to stop them from happening
If you are trying to change a bad habit (now or in the future), understanding the extinction burst is essential to making lasting change.

I was actually surprised that I hadn't already recorded a podcast about this topic as it is something I help my clients with all the time.
Let me know how the process works for you,
Gene
