Good morning,
Over the course of the last few months I have been having a very similar conversation with a number of my clients. The conversation revolves around what they want.
The reality is that most of them don't know what they want until I ask one simple question.
The conversation goes something like this:
- I ask them what they are struggling with.
- They share their pressing issue.
- I ask how this is impacting their life.
- They share the downside of how their issue is impacting them.
Year ago this is where the conversation would have stopped and we would have started to tap.
I now ask one additional question: What would you like to have instead?
This question stops most of my clients in their tracks. It isn't the question they are expecting and most of them have not considered the question at all. Ever!
They only want to reduce the pain or the emotion or the fear or the feeling of overwhelm or the whatever it is.
They haven't considered what is next.
