Good morning,
I'm sure you are aware of the fight or flight response.
These are the two most common responses to fear.
What most people don't realize is that there are actually four common reactions to the feeling of fear, known as the Four Fs.
They are:
- Fight
- Flight
- Freeze
- Foggy Brain
If we are experiencing any of these, it makes it hard to take clear and useful action.
Well, that is not exactly true. Fight and flight are both great responses to immediate physical danger. Fighting off an attacker or fleeing from a wild animal may be exactly what is required of a situation. (I grew up in Wyoming and have had to flee from bears and moose on a couple of occasions.)
But when we are feeling fear and aren't in physical danger, these responses are not only unhelpful, they become harmful. For example, if you want to put yourself forward for a business opportunity and you fear it might go badly, freeze is the worst response. If you freeze up, you will never ask and if you never ask, you can't win the business you need to succeed.
You might think the goal of tapping in these situations is to eliminate fear. On some level this is the case, but my aim is to replace fear with another more useful emotion.
That is where urgency comes in!
I love working from a sense of urgency! Urgency gives me focus. It gives me energy. It keeps me on track without the interference of any of the Four Fs.
This week's podcast provides you with a tap-along audio and tapping script to help you to move from a state of fear to one of urgency.
Even if you don't identify fear at the front of your mind or heart right now, because of what is going on in the world, chances are it's lurking in the background.
I encourage you to use this tap-along to start your day for the next few days.

I hope this helps you to be a little more productive today.
Blessings,
Gene
