Good morning,
As you may know, I spend a lot of time traveling the US and Canada performing in front of high school and middle school aged students.
When asked I tell people that middle schoolers (aged 11-14) are my favorite age group to work with and the reaction is usually mild shock!
I hear things like, "You couldn't pay me enough to get up in front of a bunch of middle schoolers!"
I most recently heard this from a friend who is a college professor. She is used to speaking to and teaching large groups of students a couple of times of a week.
Her issue isn't the public speaking, but the audience. For her it is a matter of context.
The same can be true for any of the issues we struggle with. We are relaxed in one setting, but struggle in another.
Sometimes it is not the location, but the people involved.
We may feel fine with our friends, but ill at ease with our co-workers. We are comfortable with our siblings, but nervous with our parents.
This week I have an interview with Gary Williams in which he shares a process which helps us to reveal the people who cause us the most problems emotionally (if we don't already know who they are) plus a simple tapping process to start clearing the issues around those difficult relationships.
I love the approach because it is so straightforward.
