Good morning,
When I am working with clients it is important that I listen very closely to what they are saying.
I do this in two ways.
First, I am listening to how they describe the emotions they are feeling.
Second, I am listening for the details of the story they are telling about the experience we are tapping on.
You would think that the key to clearing out an issue is to be found in the emotions they name, because tapping is about clearing up our emotions. (It’s called Emotional Freedom Techniques after all.)
Instead I have found that more often than not the real tappable issue is found in the way that clients describe what they are experiencing. The reason for this is that our emotional response is not to what is happening, but instead to how we perceive it.
For example, I could have a client who declares "Everyone at work hates me!" Their emotional state is now based on everyone hating them, regardless if anyone really hates them.
The words we use to describe our experiences and our emotions are often overlooked when we are tapping.
This week I have two resources to help you achieve results with tapping by concentrating on the way you use words to describe your emotions and experiences.
First, I have a short process to help you gain clarity about both the negative emotions you are feeling and about the positive emotions you would like to feel. Working on the negative you are aiming to clear AND the positive you would like to have in its place will move you along much quicker.

Second, I have a phrase you can add to any description of what you are experiencing that will give you a handle on a situation and allow you to move more easily towards transforming it.

The words we use have a huge impact on the transformation process. Underestimating that impact will slow your progress.
As you use these tools, let me know the words that have been tripping up your transformation.
Blessings,
Gene
PS: One of the most powerful tools in transformation is accountability. When we have someone walking with us, the burden of the work becomes so much lighter because we do not have to shoulder it alone. If you are looking for help on your transformational journey I have opened up room to work with clients one-on-one. Find full details here: http://tappingqanda.com/?p=11242
