As you might know, for the last 18 years I have traveled North America as a performer. The entire time I have worked with a childhood friend named Brad. He is a good man and I am lucky to know him.

From time to time I make an overly critical or unkind comment about myself. If Brad hears me he will say, "You aren't being very charitable with yourself!"

And he is right. Like most people, I am my own worst critic AND when I criticize myself I am overly harsh.

It is amazing how we are able to give others the benefit of the doubt and are willing to consider extenuating circumstances for their choices, but we are unwilling to do that for ourselves.

If you are anything like me you still beat yourself up for more than one of your past choices. You just can't let it go!

One of the reasons it is so hard for us to let go is because there is a part of us that is worried that if we forgive ourselves then we are giving ourselves permission to make the same mistake again.

If you are holding on to something like this I would encourage you to tap along to this audio. It will help you to release a burden (or burdens) that you have been carrying for way too long, without giving yourself permission to do it again.

There are other reasons that we might not want to heal. It’s not just a matter of worrying that we will repeat the mistake again.

When we are able to recognize all the subconscious reasons for why we resist healing, the healing process becomes so much easier.

So this week I also have list of other reasons that might slow your healing process AND what you can do about them.

I hope you find these tools helpful. EFT doesn't do us any good if we aren't using it. Both of these resources will help you do just that.

Blessings,

Gene

PS: If you are in London make sure you join us for our informal meet-up this Saturday (December 12th). I will be in the coffee shop on the 3rd floor of the Tate Modern starting at 11am. Reply to this note if you are thinking of coming so I can look out for you.

EFT For Beating Yourself Up Over Your Past – Sometimes we beat ourselves up over past mistakes for many years because we are unable to forgive ourselves. This week we tap for letting go the past, self-forgiveness, and moving on.
