Good morning,
For a number of years I was on a pastoral response team. Our job was to go into schools to help out right after a major tragedy.
In most cases in the wake of a major incident, like a student dying in a drunk driving accident, the faculty and staff would be struggling as much as the students. Our team would assist everyone to process their responses to a tragedy and we would help to identify those in need of extra attention in the days that followed.
On one occasion I was asked to chat with a second grade teacher because she was having a particularly hard time after an incident. I met her at the door of her classroom as the kids were streaming in from recess. I knew I had only about 90 seconds, at most, to work with her.
We didn't spend time tapping on what had just happened at the school and we didn't tap on any past trauma that had been stirred up by the incident. We tapped in a way that put her back together emotionally so she could take care of her second grade class.
This is what I would refer to as first aid tapping. It is tapping for an immediate need to help us through the moment.
There are lot of times where this is the best and most helpful type of tapping. My friend Jondi Whitis has developed a great process for first aid tapping. In this week's podcast she shares when it is best to use it AND how to do it.
It is a great technique to include in your tapping arsenal.

I would love to hear about your experiences with first aid tapping.
I hope you have a great day!
