TappingQandA

Good afternoon,

I don't know about you, but the last 48 hours have been a roller coaster of emotions. More questions than answers have been raised. When there is uncertainty, there is fear.

And when there is fear, we don't make good choices.

Here are the three steps I have been taking in the last few days that have been helping me through this tumultuous time.

1) Tap
This might feel a little obvious, but sometimes we are so caught up in our emotions that we don't remember to reach for the tools that we have.

Here are a few tap-along audios that I think you will find helpful:

2) Take Action
For me, the world becomes much more manageable when I am doing something that responds to the problem at hand. This doesn't mean I am able respond to the whole problem right now, but doing something productive lifts my mood because I am being a part of the solution.

Right away I took two actions. First, I started researching places that I could volunteer to teach English as a Second Language (ESL). It is hard to feel at home in a new country when you are fighting a language barrier. I'm sure there are many people legally in the USA who are feeling very afraid. If I can help a few of them to feel more at home, then that might make a difference.

Second, I invested more money on Kiva.org. Kiva is a micro lending site where you can loan money to small business owners all over the world. With access to capital they are able to grow a business, which makes them more self-sufficient. In the end, self-sufficiency means a safer life for them and their whole family.

As the business owner repays the loan, I am able to lend the money to another business. In this way the money gets used over and over again.

For the next week I am going to donate 100% of all sales of digital products and 50% of all client sessions to my Kiva account. That means that as you do something good for yourself, you are also doing something positive for a small business owner.

3) Be With People
When we are overcome with emotions it is easy to turn inward, be alone, and hide from the world. When I do this I find I become stuck inside my own head and it is hard for me to move forward.

Spending time with good friends is helpful AND when you get together, don't rehash your worries. Lift your mood by going to a funny movie, taking a class, or eating at that restaurant you have been wanting to try.

Taking Care Of Each Other
What is most important is that we keep taking care of each other. That we keep reaching out to those in need. That those around us are part of the bigger human family. We need each other.

I hope you have a good day,

Gene
