Good morning,

If you learned the classic variety of EFT, chances are you were encouraged to start each round of tapping with the phrase "Even though I have [insert issue], I completely love and accept myself". Back when Gary Craig (the innovator of EFT) still used this phrase, he called it the Setup Phrase because its function was to set up a round of tapping.

Some of my clients find it hard to say that phrase because it feels unbelievable on an emotional level. That resistance leads to a reluctance to tap at all because they feel they have to do it "the right way".

Try one of these four resources to help you overcome your struggle with the setup phrase:

1) What if you can't say "I love and accept myself"? Try this: http://tappingqanda.com/?p=10153

2) A simple formula for coming up with useful alternative setup phrases: http://tappingqanda.com/?p=1708

3) When you shouldn't use the setup phrase (an interview with Steve Wells, including a full transcript): http://tappingqanda.com/?p=5378

4) There are times when a setup phrase is useful, but "I love and accept myself" doesn’t feel right. I have created a Tapping Setup Phrase Generator tool that generates over 2,400 unique setup phrases. Each time you reload the page, ten new phrases appear. Check it out here:

I hope you find these tools useful. If you use the Setup Phrase Generator, let me know what your favorite phrase is.

I hope you have a great Tuesday,

Gene
