Good morning,
One of the reasons we tap is because we don't make the choices we want to make.
On the surface, all we can see is that we are doing it wrong. Either we aren't taking the action that we need to be taking, or we are taking an action that is harmful.
Intellectually it make no sense at all!
One of the reasons I love doing client work is the opportunity it gives me to find out the real reasons that people make the choices they do. By moving past what is happening at the surface level, we are able to dive into what is motivating the choice.
When we reach the root cause there is always a reason for making a "bad" choice. There is a limited belief, a moment from our past, or reacting in a short term way.
On one level these "reasons" seem ridiculous. On another, it is amazing the lengths to which we will go to satisfy and respond to these root causes.
This week I have a conversation with Manal Khalife in which we talk about self-medicating behaviors, how we can name then, and how we can tap to remove them.
You might be tempted to skip listening to this interview because you know all about behaviors like emotional eating, but in this interview we spend time talking about less obvious self-medication like smartphone use, as well as completely surprising forms of self-medication, like unhealthy romantic relationships.
Even if you don't make these types of choices daily, there are a number of useful steps you can take to make consistently better choices.

I hope you have a great day!
