If you have been receiving emails from me for any length of time, then you know that I am not the biggest fan of New Year's resolutions.

The simple reason is that the way most people go about making their New Year's resolutions just doesn't work!

Most people choose some new action (or actions) they plan to take. These are often in the shape of grand gestures like working out three times a week, quitting smoking, or spending 45 minutes a day studying for a professional certification.

The motivation is pure, but because these resolutions are so grand and rely mainly on willpower to get them done, they are destined to fail.

Instead of making resolutions for the year ahead, a few weeks ago I started holding intentions. The difference between a resolution and intention is the fact that I am not striving to do a new specific action.

For example, one of my intentions is to find more quiet and calm in my day, which is a challenge in a place as busy as New York City. Instead of naming the specific actions I will do to make it happen, every morning I am spending a little extra time tapping around my intention to find more calm and peace.

So the only thing that I have had to change is tapping for a few minutes in the morning.

I have been amazed at how much this has changed my day.

Because I have simply brought these intentions to the front of my mind at the beginning of the day, my subconscious mind is finding opportunities for me to realise them.

Even though I have been doing it for a few weeks, I recorded my tapping on the morning of January 1st so that I could share the process with you.

I have included both an audio and a text script of my tapping.

I would love to hear how this process works for you.

Happy 2018!

Blessings,

Gene
