click display imagesGood morning,

About once every other week one of my clients gets really embarrassed during our call.

They aren't embarrassed because of the issue we are working on. They aren't embarrassed because they start crying in the middle of the tapping. They aren't even embarrassed because they don't know what to tap on.

They are embarrassed because talking about their issue makes them extremely emotional and they start swearing.

Almost before they finish the swear word, they start to apologize.

I always reassure them and let them know that 1) I am not offended, and 2) if that is the word they need to tune into the emotion, that is exactly what they should say.

To be honest, I didn't know for sure that second part was true. It seemed to me that it couldn't hurt and was probably useful, but it was just a guess.

Until now!

Recently Emma Byrne published a book called Swearing Is Good for You: The Amazing Science of Bad Language in which she shares her own research (as well as that of many others) on all of the contexts in which swearing is useful.

So, on this week’s podcast I have for you the research and context in which swearing is useful while tapping. It is not just a matter of using more swear words, but there are specific ways and circumstances when using swearing while tapping is most productive.

Even if you aren't going to swear while tapping, the findings are useful in understanding how to get more out of your tapping.
