I hear my clients say it all the time, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!"

On some level I understand the sentiment. The idea is that if we are able to survive something difficult, then we will learn from it, become wiser and stronger, and use that experience to do better next time.

The problem is, that just isn't true.

If it were true, we wouldn't make the same mistake over and over again.

Sometimes I think a much more appropriate idiom is, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks."

But reality is much more in the middle of these two positions. There are times when we learn and there are times when we don't. And whether we learn or not isn't random because there are conditions where we are more likely to learn, and there are times where we are that old dog.

This week's podcast covers:

  • How we learn
  • How this impacts our ability to learn new ideas
  • How this slows or halts our ability to heal
  • How you can tap with this knowledge so you are no longer hindering your progress

This topic came up because of a recent conversation with one of my clients. It was only as we were diving into the topic with her specific circumstances that I realized how much of a hurdle this issue can be in the work of transformation.

If you are serious about changing a limiting belief or taking a new action, this is a podcast you need to listen to.

(As always, I am including a printable version of the tapping script for those who prefer that to tapping along to an audio.)
